Skin Tightening Q & A

How do I get effective non-surgical skin tightening?

Betty Rajan, MD: Dermatology & Skin Care, offers an alternative to invasive surgery and long recovery time of face-lifts.

Through the latest, safest treatments available today, Dr. Rajan and her team of board-certified dermatologists offer minimally invasive skin tightening. Specifically, they use AccuTite® to treat targeted areas and improve their patients’ skin.

What is AccuTite?

For years, aesthetics specialists have addressed lax, loose skin to help patients look more youthful. The issue is that those treatments have primarily relied on invasive surgical procedures — like face-lifts — that require extensive recovery times and risk scarring.

With AccuTite, Dr. Rajan and her team of board-certified dermatologists offer their patients an alternative. Instead of an invasive procedure, AccuTite requires just one very small incision per targeted area.

Rather than needing general anesthesia, it can be performed with local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure so you can recover comfortably at home.

And rather than weeks of downtime, AccuTite delivers results you can see right away that will continue to improve with time.

AccuTite can be used virtually anywhere on the body. It’s ideal for tightening and smoothing skin across the:

  • Brows
  • Undereye area
  • Neck
  • Jowls
  • Cheeks and nasolabial folds

How does AccuTite work?

AccuTite uses radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis to transform targeted areas of your skin. The AccuTite is a small, handheld device that Dr. Rajan uses to apply radiofrequency energy to areas where you want to tighten and smooth skin.

The device includes a very thin probe. Dr. Rajan inserts that probe via an extremely small incision at the targeted area. She and her team use local anesthesia to ensure you’re comfortable during your treatment.

Once in place, the AccuTite device sends radiofrequency energy between an electrode on the probe under the surface of your skin and a second electrode Dr. Rajan holds above your skin. As the energy moves back and forth, it drives results in multiple ways.

First, the energy triggers lipolysis, or the breakdown of fat in the area, helping you get smoothness and tautness. At the same time, the radiofrequency energy generates a therapeutic heat that causes your skin tissue to coagulate, tightening it.

In addition to these immediate benefits, the energy the AccuTite delivers also starts your body’s collagen production process.

Collagen is the protein that helps skin stay smooth and tight. In the weeks following your treatment, your skin will continue to create new collagen, improving your results.

What should I expect after my AccuTite treatment?

You’ll see results from your treatment right away. Over the next three to four months, the results will continue to improve.

You may experience swelling or redness for about a week after your treatment, but most patients continue with their usual daily activities almost immediately.
